Look out for forthcoming exciting projects on their label from artists such as Sheldon ‘So’ Goode, Neal Conway, Miranda Nicole and a hot EP from Steal Vybe all dropping before Spring. Dont forget you can catch the guys every Saturday night spinning live on HouseFm.net from 6pm.

Our special guest for this event is Luis Radio. Luis has been a fundamental part of Italy’s house scene over the years holding residencies at famous clubs such as Room26, which has the best sound system in the world. He also is a fantastic producer having worked with labels such as Seasons Recordings, Tony Records and Wonderwax and has an exciting EP release ‘Wurly’s World’ EP dropping on the Makin’ moves label in March so definitely look out for that!

4 to the Floor present House Vs Hustle @ Rhythm Factory Saturday 20th December

Some people say that you are always a victim of your own success so after starting out 2014 with a series of smashing events at the Horse & Groom we may have eased off a little too much post August.

An old saying “Nothing in life is ever a done deal” has seen us however regroup to bring you an out of the ordinary end of year party. Not that there is anything wrong with going out to see your favorite resident dj’s and or a big name headliner but we love to be different and we always offer different. For us the club is beyond what it is built for we always take it to the next level so for our xmas special we are bringing 5 different types of performances to the dance floor. Say what? Yes its true, not something one might associate with house music however there are street dance & club dance styles heavily influenced by house music going back to the late 80’s. Ladies and gentlemen we are very excited to bring you house dance, breaking (commercially known as breakdance) & the hustle (a partner dance one might be forgiven for having it mistaken for Salsa) & waacking live performances and also fused together including a live PA by Kayo to end your 2014 in a fashion you decide through your choosing to attend.

Notice we haven’t even discussed the lineup of dj’s yet and already a fiver should you be guest listed or 8 quid seems like quite a bargain. We have also invited Kyri of R2 records as well as our friends at Makin’ moves (Matt LS & Jamesey) to provide the desert on already a 3 course club experience. Those familiar with R2 records will know the label’s influence in house music most recently with the releases of Atonement (Osunlade), Wall street (Karizma) and other releases by Atjazz to name a few while Makin’ moves are vocal on traxsource making noise with their own releases in the charts. Our own resident dj’s albeit missing BlkBlt through other music related commitments boast Eddieboi (who is running an independent record label named Mosebo music) & the one and only famous DJSOULPROVYDER both of whom have dance experience through jazz & house dance and therefore have the foundation to shake a crowd with their unique productions and selections.

The question here is not whether you are coming but who are you bringing? Its like this, you get a swiss chocolate you want to share it and you do want a swiss chocolate because they are just not always readily available.

What you can count on us for is not spectacular, we don’t do spectacular we do alive.

NOTE ON DANCE CLASS (New Style Hustle Workshop) : This is free as it is covered by your door entry fee and will take place from 10 – 11PM. To pre-book class entry or for guest list please email edward.dikgale@gmail.com with full names and we will come back to you with your guest list reference number.

We really look forward to celebrating what has been an eventful year with you, your friends & partners together.

Nanako “Water”

MAKIN011 – Nanko ‘Water’
(Yusuke Hiraoka, Josh Milan and Dazzle Drums Remixes)

Yusuke Hiraoka’s life began the moment he met dance music as a teenager.

A local radio show in Nagoya, Japan streamed live from Night Club and served as Yusuke’s first encounter with modern dance music. He spent his teenage years immersing himself in the pulsing energy and soul of techno, deep house and R&B, until he reached a tipping point. One fateful night at Space Lab Yellow in Tokyo, Yusuke saw Timmy Regisford perform live and was transformed, convinced to make music of his own.

Since then Yusuke has dedicated himself to Reason and Ableton and clocked in countless hours in the studio and behind the decks at clubs. Now Yusuke and Makin’ Moves are releasing Water, an EP that features Japanese vocalist Nanako and remixes by Dazzle Drums and Josh Milan.

Water is a culmination of Yusuke’s aspirations since he first fell in love with the driving thump of house music. A deeply soulful number, Yusuke aimed to craft a vocal house track—in Japanese. While singing in English is standard fare in Japan, Yusuke wanted to re-contextualize this music with his own culture and language. After securing the production, in came Nanako, a powerful Japanese R&B singer, to take the track to the next level. Inspired by 90’s R&B, Nanako adds urgency and spirit to the track in a way that can be felt regardless if the words are understood.

Inspired by the impermanence of flowing water as a metaphor for the restless human mind, Nanako sings to bring a sense of peace and calm to the listener as Yusuke’s undeniably rubbery bass lines and spirited keys push the body to dance. The Japanese coed duo Dazzle Drums takes the tune to the forefront of the dancefloor with their remix, while veteran house producer Josh Milan puts the drums front and center for his Honeycomb remix. Whether in the privacy of your bedroom or in a crowded dance floor, Yusuke and Nanako’s “Water” will take you to a place of ease through a soulful musical journey.

Nanako is available as an exclusive promo via www.traxsource.com on 10th February, and then on all other digital stores from 10th March 2014.

Tiger Wilson ‘Anything is Possible’

Tiger Wilson ‘Anything is Possible’ (includes instrumental, organ solo and slow vibe mixes)
MAKIN008
www.makin-moves.co.uk

When Tiger Wilson croons “Anything Is Possible,” those three possibly cliché words actually become empowering. The New Jersey native is a music industry professional of over 12 years, versed in everything from production to vocal coaching in a variety of genres. After a lifetime of experience, Tiger Wilson emerges as a solo artist with Anything Is Possible.

The single, titled after the album, crystalizes Tiger’s deep-rooted positive ambition into song.  Emphasizing the soulful aspect of house music “Anything Is Possible” brings that Sunday morning sunshine to the dance floor. The rhythm and melody create a pulse while carving out the perfect place for Tiger’s voice to take the song over the top. His smooth vocal performance melds influences of textured Philadelphia soul with classic Motown roots, through a house lens. Tiger is an infectious listen.

Tiger Wilson is a complete artist. A writer/producer/performer, he is one of the rare few that can create a concept, build it in the studio and deliver it onstage. Armed with a ferocious talent and a genuine positivity, Tiger has only just begun. Makin’ Moves is proud to give the world a proper introduction to the diverse genius of Tiger Wilson through his debut, Anything Is Possible, the first single from a dynamic EP showcasing us all his true talents.

King of Hearts is the highly anticipated new album from Peven Everett who returns with a bang! Instrumentalist, prolific lyricist and heatbreak extraordinaire. This album is fully armed with a sparkling set of super smooth and sizzling love songs.  Once again showing us his unique ability to seamlessly float across all genres from RnB, Power Soul, Funk, Rap and Soulful Vocal House.

This brand new collection of exciting power soul ballads and uptempo classics kicks off with the Donny Hathaway inspired ‘I Just Wanna Make You Happy’, which does just that and more,  swiftly moving along into the catchy first single off the album ‘One Way Ticket’. Shifting down a gear into the dreamy ‘Love Story’ and ‘I Can Be Your Boyfriend’, a perfect summer anthem. The supreme grooves of ‘Another Tender Moment’ are nostalgic of Peven’s early days.  Picking up the pace with dance floor gems ‘Taking Me Back’ and ‘When I want Someone It’s You’ finishing off with the cool hip hop joint ‘Baby Momma With Sense’ and jazzy end with ‘Don’t You Want To Funk’. This distinctive album is quite possibly the best to date, a coming of age both musically and spiritually for one of Chicago’s finest.

Peven Everett was born and raised in Harvey – Chicago, Illinois. A talented writer, arranger, producer and performer who plays countless instruments proficiently including drums, guitar, bass, flute, piano, trombone, and trumpet across all genres of music.  Peven started out in a Jazz band, a first grade music student at school. Peven brings a special element of soul and spirit to everything he touches with emphasis on a special blending of retro and future music making an original sound.

Peven was awarded the Independent Achiever award from Heineken’s Red Star Soul, he has played trumpet in “Marsalis on Music” the book and documentary, and performed live on Last Night with Carson Daly. SMI featuring Shea Soul
‘Just Fine’
(incl. David Harness & Jihad Muhammad ‘Bang The Drum’ Remixes)
Makin Moves (UK)

:: @makinmovesuk

Summer 2012 saw the birth of a brand new events promotion company in London, ‘Makin’ Moves’. With already a host of successful parties under their belt, head honcho Matt Langrish-Smith and wing-man Jamesey make the next move and launch their exciting new record label for the brand. The first single to rumble out of their studios is a gorgeous soulful outing from North London producer SMI featuring the unmistakable voice of  Shea Soul titled ‘Just Fine’. Shea’s heartfelt voice glides through the song like a hot knife to ice cream over SMI’s soundtrack of afrocentric beats and emotional melancholic piano. Also appearing on the release are San Francisco top dog DJ/producer, David Harness, who works up a hypnotic groove for the floor; and New Jersey soulful maestro, Jihad Muhammad, delivers a four to the floor ‘Bang The Drum Mix’ adding in some fancy key work and lush sweeping strings.

A relatively new kid on the block, Leon Vandol, aka SMI has his heart first and foremost in his music. Based in North London this young talent has already worked with Donaeo and G Frsh (signed to Tiny Tempah’s label), as well as developing some new fresh soulful talent himself. A big fan of Shea Soul, Leon approached her on Facebook and they went on to link in the studio to record their first collaboration ‘Just Fine’.

Shea Soul is the exciting new future-soul-jazz singer from Croydon, UK. The Brit School graduate has gained a reputation within the scene with her distinctive voice and ability to pen strong hooks and melodies. A chance hook-up led to her being asked to vocal a track with legendary dance producer Matt ‘MJ’ Cole. Her first official foray into songwriting resulted in the dance floor smash, ‘Never Say Never’. Now firmly established on the UK underground, Shea Soul was well and truly in demand as a songwriter and featured artist, working with a slew of the UK’s most credible underground producers, from Toddla T, Joey Negro, Shy FX, Donaeo, Swindle, Phil Asher, Zed Bias and Simbad. A session with Attacca Pesante spawned the biggest underground hit:  ’Make it Funky’, written and performed by Shea, became one of the founding hits of the UK Funky scene. Her track ‘Perfectly’ with The Layabouts was also a huge club smash. As well as top line writing for dance producers, Shea is currently working on her debut solo album which is due for release in 2013. Her debut solo single ‘Where Did You Go’ is a uniquely British sounding slice of jazz-infused street-soul -the perfect tease for her album.

“Makin’ Moves isn’t just any old record label and events company. We’re looking to do a lot of unique events this year including all day terrace parties, a monthly club residency party and exciting co-promoted events, both here and abroad. We’re looking to use our events to build and expose a fantastic repertoire of new artists on the label.” - Matt L-S
