Makin’ Moves founders Matt Langrish-Smith (Matt L-S) and Jamesey celebrate their 10 year anniversary this summer, a huge milestone for the friends who came together in the summer of 2012, wanting to breathe new life into the deep/soulful house scene that they both loved growing up and thus far have managed to stay consistent throughout delivering a unique party that has unified the soulful dance scene across generations during this period. Ten years on and this is just the beginning as they are planning a whole host of exciting events for their 10th anniversary this year at 93 Feet East in Shoreditch!
Their first event kicks off on Friday 8th April with residents Matt and Jamesey headlining alongside local cohorts djsoulproyder and Kengo from 4tothefloor plus Mi Soul’s Martin Lodge spinning tunes in the courtyard from early evening! *We have some unfortunate news to bring you this morning, our guest for the party on Saturday 18th December Glenn Underground will sadly not be appearing now.
Our event in London had a flight share connected with some promoters friends in Barcelona on the same weekend and unfortunately they’ve recently had some new restrictions put in place there were clubs have only 50% capacity and you can’t enter a club without a Covid passport so their event won’t be going ahead now which has in turn had a knock on effect on ours.
The good news however is that our event will still be going ahead, and we are excited to announce that our good friend Greg Gauthier from Dance Culture in Paris will be joining us now on the night and so more great news, we’ve just agreed an extension so we will now finish at 3am!
If you would like a refund on your ticket then we are happy to refund you but we hope you can still join us for our final boogie of 2021!
This all takes place at Colours in Hoxton, a fantastic space with state of the art sound!
Last few remaining £12.50 tickets are available Here - https://ra.co/events/1482237
Following our fantastic last Jus Dance event down at Colours last month we head back there on Sunday 14th November for our latest session which promises to be extra special as we do a full venue take over with djs and live acts across two rooms!
In the main room packed with a full stacked sound system you can hear residents Matt L-S, Jamesey, djsoulprovyder and Kengo joined by the amazingly talent musician and producer Laroye from France!
Laroye produces Afro Spiritual house, Broken beat, Boogie funk and downtempo cuts and you’ll catch him playing a very exclusive live set using congas, guitar and synths.
Laroye moved to the UK in 2015, drawn by the boundary pushing dance and electronic music scenes here. Laroye has released music exploring a variety of different genres from broken beat through funk and boogie with Qwestlife on Midnight Riot, Glitterbox and beyond. 2019 started with a prolific studio period, shifting out 4 EP on Label such has Visions and local talk and we’ll be celebrating his brand new hot remix of Stephanie Cooke forthcoming on Makin Moves Records on the night.
Also performing on the night will be Missfly flying in from Toronto to perform her latest release “Honey Love” on Makin Moves Records. She has worked with legends such as Thelma Houston, and The Notorious BIG, but has also carved out an impressive discog of her own. MissFly can be heard on many Soulful House nuggets such as “1972,” “Wanna Love You”, “Thankful”, “Heaven” and #1 Soulful House Song “ Stronger Together “ and has been supported by Louie Vega, Ralf Gum, Jihad Muhammad, Zepherin Saint, Mr. V, Doug Gomez, DjPope, Kevin Yost, DJ Beloved & Brutha Basil to name a few.

Catch Matt and Jamesey next month spinning at Fuego a fantastic event hosted by our good friends from the Shapes Festival! It takes place on Saturday 16th October at the Colour Factory in Hackney Wick where the boys will host the garden!
We are back at Colour Factory for our last Fuego! of 2021 but this time we are bringing our full 16-stack sound system and inside! The garden will be hosted by our friends from Makin’ Moves. https://www.festicket.com/even
Inside, we’re buzzing at the idea of welcoming one of the most versatile producers in the game, Jim Coles aka OM UNIT. The Bristol-based beat-maker constantly pushes the boundaries of what is expected within the chosen style, be it ribcage-rattling dubstep, ambient soundscape work or drum & bass-led experiments which hark back to the Blue Note days. As a producer and DJ, Jim has been a significant and pioneering presence in various electronic music circles for the past decade.
Also super chuffed to welcome the one and only Ruby Savage. Ruby has worked for record labels Honest Jon’s and Sound Signature and has founded Wildheart Recordings. Her stewardship as label manager and primary creative director at Brownswood Recordings has been instrumental to the label’s growing success. Her personal exploits as a DJ have taken her to performing at clubs and festivals around the world.
Joining them on the night, the Leeds and legendary institution, Iration Steppas. Active for over 20 years as a sound system and production unit composed of Mark Iration and Denis Rootical. The pair first met in 1993 at a time when sound system culture and music in the UK was changing, from the militant vibrations of Jah Shaka towards a broader future that would encompass not only the roots of the music but also new interpretations. Iration’s own production style was nicknamed “Year 3000 Dub” in reference to its ability to straddle both the past and the future.
Also on the bill, Jamie Rodigan, who has become one of the UK’s most cherished selectors, from tearing up festivals to disrupting dancehall floors with his untouchable selection. Being the son of the legendary radio broadcaster Sir David “Ram Jam” Rodigan, music has played a pivotal role throughout his life. His eclectic DJ sets today reflect these musical experiences growing up. It’s not just Reggae that has formed Jamie’s musical education. He was exposed to a wide range of music from Rare Groove and House to Jungle and Garage.
If that wasn’t enough, Belly to Belly the collective specialising in late 70s, early 80s roots and dancehall played on original vinyl will be teaming with Community HiFi, the Sound System collective deeply rooted in the East London West Indian community. The powerful and veteran legend Ras Rim Bim will also join the party!
Outside, we have a very special treat! The house party outfit, Makin’ Moves, will bring some Deep, Afro and NY house grooves to the Colour Garden. Makin’ Moves residents, Jamesey & Matt L-S, have been an essential part of the underground London house scene for the last two decades. Also coming especially for this event, Housemotion, one of the main contributors to house music in Greece will bring the solid 4/4 vibes to the garden.
Pete On The Corner, Paskal, Tommy Castro and Frank is Franck will be rounding up this tasty line-up.
