MAKIN’ MOVES WTH IAN FRIDAY (LIBATION, NYC) @ LOVES COMPANY

SATURDAY 15TH NOVEMBER 2014

2014 has been a very successful year for the Makin’ Moves team and we’re pleased to finish it in style with some one off parties in Shoreditch to thank our London fans for their support this year. The first of these will take place in the basement at the newly opened Loves Company in the heart of Old Street on Saturday 15th November. The venue is fantastic and we have a license til 5am!

Joining our residents Matt L-S and Jamesey will be Ian Friday from New York. Ian is one of our favourite djs who always takes you on a journey through the house music genre and will be the icing on the cake for this event. His party ‘Libation’ has been one of the success stories in New York clubbing in the last 5 years and has propelled the brand worldwide. If your planning a trip to NYC soon, make sure you check it out!

Ian also runs Global Soul Music, formally Tea Party Music which was set up in 2006 to present quality global soul music. The first release, “Life Starts Today” (Byron Moore), quickly followed by Everything featuring Erro and the Anto Vitale’s Theorema Del Faya’ set the tone for what has become one of the best soulful house labels on the planet.

MAKIN018 – Phil Hooton ‘Zanibar’

We welcome Phil Hooton from Leeds to our artist roster with an exciting new release ‘Zanzibar’ that he’s been championing for a few years now in his dj sets and has become somewhat of an underground anthem whenever he’s dropped it.

Since we picked it up this special track has been in heavy rotation in our sets at Makin’ Moves and it always grabs attention whenever it’s been played.

The release comes with three mixes, Main Mix, Dub and Spoken Drum Mix. The Main Mix takes us on a journey to Zanibar in Africa with deep drums and haunting organ stabs that give us a feel that we are there alongside the lion and tigers, particularly when the lion roars! The Dub also works equally well, with a hint of the classic ‘Plastic Dreams’ about it.

Phil didn’t grow up in a Southside church or cut his teeth at a Deep South Baptist revival, but to hear Phil Hooton’s music, you could certainly think so. From the UK, Phil Hooton gospel-tinged compositions and DJ sets have earned him the acclaim of Deep House pioneers from Glenn Underground and Kerri Chandler to Farley Jackmaster Funk, as well as Chicago’s Nu Bang Clan, which just inducted him as a member. Together with Phil Asher, Mr. Hooton has to be considered on anyone’s shortlist of the hottest UK producers on the scene today.
