Caring For Claire @ Kamio, Shoreditch

Caring For Claire @ Kamio, Shoreditch
Sunday 15th January 2017

As many of you know one of our keen music heads Claire Tomlinson, passed away after a short battle with cancer in September aged only 35.

Growing up at her parents farm in Southport she was a regular at the Southport Weekender, and also at suncebeat in Croatia. Over the years she made many friends along the way, from different parts of the UK and Europe and many of you were kind enough to donate money to her You Caring page during her fight.

She fought a gallant battle, and she was heavily support by people from the music scene during this time, even now 3 months on and her Facebook page is busy with people posting lovely photos of Claire.

It was a massive blow to our community because she was such a lovely person both inside and out, and this was not long after losing another soul solider in Owen Money that also rocked our community. Claire loved to dance and anyone that meet her was instantly taken to her.

Claire’s funeral took place in late September in her home town of Southport and only a small group of her London friends managed to make it so for the past three months her London family have been working on getting Claire a special memorial bench inside the grounds of St Pauls Cathedral where Claire and her mum used to sit during her treatment at Barts. The cost of bench is over £1000 so we intend to use the money from donations to pay for the bench and plaque.

All DJ’s playing at this event are personal friends of Claire and have given up their time to be part of this special event.

Makin’ Moves celebrate their 4th anniversary on Saturday 10th September with an all day party at the very funky 93 Feet club on Brick Lane in Shoreditch. It’s the teams first event here but it promises to be very special as alot of hard work has gone into making this happen.

The team will be taking over the main bar area with has a great decor and sound system to boot. The space also boasts a fabulous outside terrace space where there will be a bbq all day, with shishas plus sun terrace for people to chill and relax.

For this special event Matt and Jamesey are very proud to welcome Kai Alce all the way from Atlanta. Kai is most definitely the man of the moment when it comes to quality house music, he’s been killing it in the last 12 months with releases on a whole host of labels including his own NTAL Muzik imprint. He’s recently mixed the Defected in Croatia CD and will be headling at the Dimensions festival out there later this August.

Also, on the line up we’ve got our good friend Rap Saunders, who is one of London’s premier deep house djs. His party Soulmates along with Dennis Christensen was one of London’s best kept secrets for many years at AKA. Many a dj in London and abroad meet him during his time in Black Market Records in Soho where he was head buyer and entrusted in finding you those hidden gems.

Kicking things off for us on the day will be Graeme P and SoulDiva, this partnership are like no other and together they forge an awesome team that in the last year have put on some fabulous parties under their We Came To Dance brand which is going great guns.
