Makin’ Moves Live Session Friday 18th September @ 91, Brick Lane

Friday 18th September sees the Makin’ Moves crew move back east following their epic party at the Notting Hill Carnival closing down this years Notting Hill Carnival! We take over 91, Brick Lane for our first Makin’ Moves live session event where we headline some of the amazing UK artists on our label and give them the spotlight to shine as well some great dj sets aswell from the boys Matt and Jamesey!

We’re very lucky to showcase four amazing singers Mychelle, Laville, ShezAr and Anna-Marie Johnson plus 4 piece band for this gig, flipping some of our house music styles to live.. All these tracks will dropping on an exclusive vinyl release on Makin’ Moves Records at the end of October!

Firstly joining us will be Mychelle, an amazing singer song writer from East London who’s album Good Day we’ve been playing on repeat, and this particuar song we loved so much we licensed it and had it remixed so she’ll be performing this!

Laville will also be in the house performing his new record, 10,000 miles, he’s had a great year and also had some great performances with the Soul Quest Records team featuring with Sim Sol and 2Fox.

Thirdly we have the amazing ShezAr, she’s worked with us on a number of singles through the years and will be performing her latest tracks Natural High and Rounding things off we have, Anna Marie Johnson, following her amazing performance at our summer party at Set List, she will be performing her current hit Shivers and new material.

Makin’ Moves Carnival After Party @ Notting Hill Arts Club – Mon 31st August – Tickets on Sale!

Notting Hill Carnival celebrates its 60th year anniversary this year, a huge landmark for this iconic London festival. In that time it has become one of the integral parts of UK culture so we thought we need to be a part of it this year! We’ve had a great relationship with the Notting Hill Arts Club through the years as our favourite spot in West London and some of you might even remember our road block party back there in 2022! We head back there for a bank holiday after party on Monday 31st as we plan to bring the carnival to a crescendo.

Residents Matt and Jamesey London’s deep house pace setters will be in the house playing their unique brand of deep and soulful house. Also, joining us will be DJ Dubois who has been a long term regular at our events and has recently been making a big noise in the scene with regular spots at Deep Into Soul and Giles Smith & Friends. Her sound fuses elements of afro, deep and soulful house and can’t wait to welcome her! We also welcome Tre Hunter someone who we’ve wanted to book for sometime but is often travelling the world, expect a variety of house music sounds across the dance music diaspora.

Sunday 2nd August Makin’ Moves x Soul Quest @ Set, London (Matt & Jamesey)

Two of London’s finest deep house labels Makin’ Moves & Soul Quest Records come together for a special one off event this summer at one of the finest venues in central London, Set List which is situated in the heart of historic Somerset House! This place is a real hidden gem where you can happily get down to quality soulful sounds served up by our djs on a slick dance floor or simply hang outside taking in the scenic views of the capital while sipping on a cocktail or sampling some of the great food on offer! Makin’ Moves has been going for 14 years and has been one of the main stays of quality soulful music in London while constantly pushing musical boundaries.

Matt and Jamesey also are two of the finest djs setting the tone for the London deep house scene while also curating regular events around the capital. Soul Quest is headed by head honcho Max Sinal one of the most creative minds for soulful music in the UK, this man is not only a producer but label owner and DJ! Constantly finding new artists for his label and keeping a very high standard of release we welcome him and his label cohort KingCrowney for this unique collaboration!

Both labels will not just be showcasing djs but also ive artists from their respective labels so this promises to be a unique event!

Makin’ Moves Summer Session @ Set List – Sun 21st June

Sunday 21st June sees Makin’ Moves kick off a series of summertime daytime parties at the awesome riverside venue Set List situated in the heart of the historic Somerset House!

This place is a real hidden gem where you can happily get down to quality soulful sounds served up by our djs on a slick dance floor or simply hang outside taking in the scenic views of the capital while sipping on a cocktail or sampling some of the great food on offer!

For this first event Makin’ Moves head honcho Matt L-S will be joined by his House FM cohort DJ Murrell who’s been one of the rising stars of the soulful house scene in the last 18 months. We also welcome back Martin Lodge who’s played for us many times in the past 14 years and always brings the party!

MissBeehavior also returns for her second set for us following her amazing debut performance at the Cross last year.

Saturday 16th May Makin’ Moves 14th Anniversary After Party Bricks, Brixton

Following our day party at Phonox on Saturday 16th May Makin’ Moves aim to keep the vibe alive with part of our 14th birthday celebrations as we head to our after party at the much talked about Bricks only a short walk up the round from Phonox.
This event is part of our 14th anniversary celebration and features more djs that have played for us through the years across to floors plus also some new faces!
On the ground floor we welcome once again Marvin Jupiter a very talented producer / dj who recently remixed “Lovin’ You” from UK soul Don Don-E. We also welcome new faces Esthaah and Raphael from the Soul Therapy crew. These guys are serious selectors and their Soul Therapy events are a hot bed for new talent coming into the scene.
In the upstairs room Matt and Jamesey will be joined by Kojay and P-Lucas from the Onts crew that tore the place down back in March at our last event at the Timber Loft. The guys will also be joined by Randy Peterson from Our House Music, one of London’s best soulful house djs who’s played for us on many occasions through the years.
This party is totally free and big thank you to everyone that’s supported us through the years!

Makin’ Moves 14th Anniversary @ Phonox – Sat 16th May – *Announcement

Due to unforeseen and unfortunate circumstances, beyond our control! Osunlade will not be performing at our 14th anniversary this Saturday 16th October at Phonox.

Makin’ Moves celebrates their 14th anniversary on Saturday 16th May with a special day party event at South London’s finest club Phonox. Phonox is definitely our favourite London club with the best sound system and lights, it just has the full package when putting on an event of this size! Oakland-based DJ Patrick Wilson has been in the game for over 40 years and in that time has earnt respect as one of the finest djs in the States in that time. He and fellow Oaklander Nina Sol are resident DJs at Elements, a party dedicated to deep, soulful house, both classic and they’ve shared the stage with everyone from Moodyman to Joe Claussell. We really can’t wait to have him play for us and take us on a journey! Kapela has been one of the rising stars in the soulful / afro scene for sometime. Building up a reputation as one of the top djs in Paris at the infamous Djoon club where he has a monthly Sunday residency and we experienced for ourselves last year!
