Following our great collaborative party back in November, Makin’ Moves and House 4 Soul join forces once again to kick start your new year in full effect as we come together once again on Saturday 20th January at the amazing OMEARA venue in London Bridge!

Again there will be two rooms of fab soulful music for you and we’re proud to have room 2 hosted by some of the Caring For Claire DJ’s that are playing in the memory of Claire Tomlinson who we sadly lost to cancer in September 2016. Tuesday 9th January would have been Claire Tomlinson’s 37th birthday so we want to continue to keep her memory alive as she would have liked by playing her favour music and her favourite friends coming together to celebrate her life once again..

This years event funds went on a lovely memorial bench that was erected earlier this year and that many of you have visited in the grounds of St Pauls Cathedral so any funds that we raise on the day will go to towards the up keep of the bench and other cancer charities of the Tomlinson family choice.

Some of the labels he’s released on include: King Street Records, Mahogani, Planet E, Defected, Nitegrooves, Sound Signature and Octave Lab…oh yes, we’re pretty excited for this one.

Born in Chicago and raised in Detroit, Alton’s early roots in soul music led to an affinity for club culture that was the staple of the motor city and Chicago at the time.

Developing his DJing skills under the influence of house music’s founding fathers like Frankie Knuckles, Ron Hardy, Larry Levan and Timmy Regisford, he eventually opened his own dance club The Music Institute of Detroit with like minded friends Chez Damier and George Baker in 1988.

He is now one of the most respected producers, DJ, vocalist and percussionists on the scene today and will be playing an exclusive London set for your listening pleasure.

Moxa’s ‘Family Affairs’ event is now into its fifth installment and is causing quite a stir around London. An event that not only showcases great DJ talent and music but also talent from the art world, set in one of London’s best kept secrets ‘Miranda’ inside ACE hotel in Shoreditch.

This month is set to be extra special, as we are excited to present a live element to the event showcasing London’s Aisling Iris who will be performing tracks from her recently released album ‘Night time Moves’ which has been played on Jazz FM, Solar Radio and Mi-Soul. Aisling originally from Cork in Ireland has been a regular on the live music circuit in London often hosting her on live music monthly event at Mau Mau’s in Portobello Road.

Following our successful ‘A Night 4 Luv’ event last month, we head back to Kamio in Shoreditch for our next instalment!

Serving up the sounds will be Makin’ Moves residents Matt L-S and Jamesey playing you all the latest upfront soulful and deep house on a great Funktion 1 sound system. This month we’re excited to have a special guest join us, DJ Uchikawa all the way from Japan!

DJ Uchikawa Masahiko is a veteran DJ with a career spanning more than 25 years, working consistently to establish the club scene in Japan. From the late 80s to the 90s, you could find him spinning at all the major clubs in east and west Japan – Mix, 328, Catalist, Fai and others in Tokyo; Qoo, Grand Cafe, and others in Osaka; and in Kyoto, at Metro, Garden and other venues. He also does numerous guest DJ spots in Europe and the States. Uchikawa is also known for his enormous record collection – the godfather of rare groove, Norman Jay MBE (UK), offered Uchikawa high praise, calling him the “the Japanese ‘Jay’”.
